The panda monitoring station is located in the Liziping Nature Reserve (in Yi Autonomous County) Ma Ma Tei. The station was funded by the Chinese Forestry Administration and the Sichuan Forestry Department in order to monitor the living conditions of the Giant Pandas. It is located in the southwestern margin of the Sichuan Basin, south-east of Gongga Mountain and the upper reaches of the Dadu River, at an altitude of approximately 2500 meters; the climate is cold, wet and rainy.
This project is the first application of the integrated structural insulated panels (SIP). by Professor Zhu Jing Xiang Research Team, School of Architecture, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. It is been praised by the funding agencies and the users, and this provides opportunities to become more nature reserves workstation model. It is also proved from an academic point of view: materials, transportation, construction and design of the fine integration can be greatly expanded to the application of prefabricated houses, thus effectively improve the quality of living of the people working under extreme environmenta.
